As companies lose sight of long term vision, and hire focusing only on short term goals, and job seekers focus on immediate employability rather than aligning their development goals with that of the organization’s goals, leading to a complete Myopic Vision, & creating a vicious cycle of ineffective recruitment & retention problems.
Shortsightedness in understanding self, organizational issues, and inability to create a compelling Employee Value Proposition, are key components that contribute to this state. This in turn emanates from ineffective communication of the vision by the leaders, and many times from a lack of vision itself. Without a clear vision the organization is pulled towards the pressure of NOW, without proper emphasis on alignment with the long-term goals set for the organization, reflecting also in poor hiring strategy.
It is not surprising that lack of leadership & communication skills have been identified as one of the biggest challenges faced most industries, and the same is reported by Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) as a major issue in Financial Industries in Hong Kong.
Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) has proposed better collaboration between academia and the industry to develop these so called SOFT SKILLS for strong sustainable results.
